In this article, I discussed how poorly the Naneu Pro K3L was constructed, and the problems inherent in the design.

I sent it back to Naneu Pro, and they contacted me right away, apologizing for the problem, and asked that I either wait for the new K4L or K3L (due out in a few months), or choose from something in their current catalog under $199.95.

I was very impressed with this offer, as I had forked out $149 for the bad bag. I chose the Tango shoulder bag in green, and it came almost immediately.

I was, and still am, very impressed with their customer service in at least this regard. You can make up for a crappy product with stellar customer service, you know.

Anyway, this is an amazing bag, and unlike any other camera bags I’ve had before. Please see the entire photo dissection of the bag here.

Nice bag, Naneu Pro, but the strap/support system (just like on the K3L) fails the test! I went to Kansas City this Monday and Tuesday, and had in the bag:

• 12″ Dell notebook
• Canon 40D
• Spare 511 and spare AAAs
• Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM
• Canon 50mm f/1.2
• canon 18-55mm f/3.5
• Paper notebook
• 2 gel pens
• A few Clif bars

Only using the shoulder strap, and not the wacky webbing thingie that looks so frail it will drop my bag off my back.

After one single day of use, this strap, just like the strap on the K3L, starts to fall apart. If you take a close look, you’ll see that the single stitching only holds 1/8 of an inch, or less, of fabric. Nylon can’t be sewn like this!

Naneu Pro: you need to fold the edges over, and double stitch them!

It is clear that the bags are not made at the same place the straps are.

My advice? If you buy a Naneu Pro bag (and there are some good ones), arrange to buy a strap to support it! For a serious strap that is theft deterrent with steel cables that can’t be cut, check out Corporate Travel Security. I bought the camera and bag straps, as well as TSA locks and locking clasps. The straps have a great design!

Sorry, Naneu Pro. You can’t single stitch nylon on a 1/8″ seam and expect it to last more than a few hours. The strap is getting sent back, and I don’t care if they don’t send me another. I can’t trust my equipment to a bag that can’t be supported for more than a few hours before breaking down.

P.S. Lose the compass and make the redundant sling webbing removable.
